Full Potential Initiative
Several years ago, YWLCS contacted University of Virginia professors to learn more about their creative research on development of academic and career interests, and to introduce them to the unique approach of YWLCS. This led to YWLCS collaboration in the Full Potential Initiative (FPI), a program begun last year to learn from students about the mind sets that work for academic achievement and career success.
How FPI works: In 15-minute sessions on the Internet about once a month, students do different sorts of brain-teaser games and answer questions about their likes and dislikes, interests and goals. Students are notified by email when a new session is available, and they can do it from any Internet connection in their spare time, whether at home or at school.
Rewards: In addition to the benefits of occasional opportunities to practice academic skills and think about academic and career goals, each time a student cooperates on two FPI sessions a $10 gift card will be delivered to her (current options are Target, Subway, and Barnes & Noble).
Your choice and a $5 thank you either way: YWLCS fully supports this project, but the choice to participate is up to each individual family. When FPI receives the three form available below with appropriate signatures indicating your choice, you will receive from FPI a $5 gift card to a Subway restaurant as a thank you for considering the program.
If you would like your child to participate in FPI, there are three forms that must mailed to FPI (or, for currently enrolled YWLCS students, returned to her science teacher). View and download each form below.
